Dennis John Cyr, Sr.
May 18, 1940 — January 29, 2009
Dennis John Cyr, Sr., a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away on January 29, 2009 at the age of 68. He was born on May 18, 1940 in Stamford the son of the late Helen Cook.
He was the owner of Cyr & Sons Roofing. In life, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, riding motorcycles and boating. Dennis also enjoyed his garden, fishing, and of course, taking trips to the casino. His most memorable possession was his great sense of humor, along with his jokes and stories he has told that will live on in all of us forever.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Anastasia Cyr; as well as his brother, Claude Cyr; three sons, Dennis Jr., Claude and Jimmy Cyr; and a daughter, Denise Bedrin. His most pride possessions were his nine grandchildren: Michelle Cyr, Jacqueline Bedrin, Samantha Cyr, William Bedrin, Danielle Cyr, Faith Cyr, Dennis John Cyr, III, Jimmy Cyr, Jr., and Patricia Cyr. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Arusiewitz.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Wednesday, February 4 from 4:00 8:00 PM. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, February 5 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford with Rev. Arthur Mollenhauer officiating. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made to the Tommy Fund, 20 York Street, New Haven, CT 06510.
