Dolores Cox Agnew, 82, of Darien passed away peacefully on October 31, 2023. She was born in New York City on September 1, 1941, to the late Francis M. Cox, Jr. and Maria Lane Cox.
Dolores attended grammar school at the Convent of Sacred Heart at 91st Street, NYC and high school at Sacred Heart Greenwich in CT. She earned her undergraduate degree at Manhattanville College in 1963 and went on to earn her master’s degree in Spanish from Middlebury College in VT.
Upon graduation, she moved to New York City and worked for Pan Am Airways. Dolores met the love of her life Rick Agnew in NYC, they married in 1967 and started a family. They enjoyed playing golf at Burning Tree Country Club in Greenwich, CT and Harbor Ridge in Palm City, FL with their many friends. They spent many summers with family and friends in Whitefield, NH and Stratton, VT.
A devout Catholic, she enjoyed attending daily mass and bible study.
Dolores was predeceased by her husband, Richard E. Agnew, and her three siblings Maria Connor, Frank Cox and Lewis Cox. She is survived by her daughters, Kate Sullivan and Beth Rosenblum (Mike), as well as her grandchildren, Caroline, Emma, Anna and Ashley. Also surviving are her siblings, John Cox, Sr. (Rita) and Ella Bracy (Michael).
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 2:00-6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Basilica of St. John the Evangelist, 279 Atlantic Street, Stamford on Monday, November 6, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be held privately.
