Donna Melfi
January 5, 1948 — December 20, 2018
Donna Melfi, 70, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Stamford Hospital. She was born in Stamford on January 5, 1948 to the late Dominick and Susie Esposito LoRusso.
Donna was a Stamford High School Graduate, “Class of 65” and an accomplished ballroom dancer, having been a member of Dance Masters of America and danced in the Harvest Moon Ball. She was very proud to have worked with her father and husband in their business from 1970-2004. She retired in 2004 when her first grandchild was born, of which became her new life. Donna was a dedicated and proud fulltime mother and grandmother. Her life revolved around her grandchildren as she never missed any of their events.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Melfi, Jr. of Stamford, her loving children, Mark V. Melfi, III and his wife Nancee of Stamford, CT and Suzanne DelCarmine and her husband Tony of New Canaan, CT, as well as her grandchildren, Taylor, Marissa and Tony DelCarmine.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Sunday, December 23, 2018 from 2:00-6:00 PM with a funeral service to be celebrated at 5:30 PM. A Graveside service will be held on Monday, December 24, 2018 at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien, at 10AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Donna’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
