A loving companion, mother, and grandmother, 41-year Wilton resident, Dorothy Hill, passed away at Norwalk Hospital on Monday March 27, 2006.

From her home base, she raised four children and pursued a lifetime of volunteerism and support for community services first in the schools, and later working at the Wilton Library, Silver Hill, and with Norwalk Community College. She was a passionate supporter of numerous charities and causes that were geared towards making people’s lives better.

Born in Princeton, NJ, in 1927, Mrs. Hill graduated from Smith College in 1946 and graduated from law school two years later, quickly passing the Maine Bar. While she never practiced law, she used her legal training throughout her life. In addition to raising a family and volunteering, she was President of the Gove Company, and a fixture in Norwalk working for H&R Block doing taxes, something she really enjoyed. Throughout her life, she traveled the globe, often with her family, satisfying her curiosity to meet new people, visit new places, and experience new things.

She is survived by her longtime partner Tom Harris; daughter, Erika Chamberlain and husband Bruce Brazo of Wilton; daughter Lydia Bourg and husband John of Sugar Land, Texas; son Henry Chamberlain and his wife Lisa Burns; grandson, Alex of McLean, Virginia; son, Rodney Chamberlain and his wife Sue; and granddaughter Jacquie of Ellicott City, Maryland.

Anyone wishing to make a donation in Mrs. Hill’s memory is encouraged to support the Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital. At her request, there will not be a memorial service. Arrangements are being handled by the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford. www.cognetta.com
