Dorothy A. “Dottie” Monahan,98, a lifelong Stamford resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2018. She was born in Stamford on May 21, 1919 to the late Mollie Ahlgren Monahan.
Dottie graduated from Stamford High School, Class of 1937. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church all of her life and earlier was a Sunday School Teacher and also a member of the Church Choir and the mail crew.
Dottie retired from Commerce Packaging in 2001 and previously was employed for Schick Inc., Bunker Ramo and Hilti Corp.
Dottie is survived by her cousin, Judith E. Schwartz and her husband William of Darien, her cousin, Thomas F. “Tim” Pritchard and his wife Marilyn of Stamford, their families and a number of other cousins. Besides her mother, Dottie was predeceased by her much loved second cousin, William “BIlly” R. Schwartz, III. Dottie will be remembered by many and will be missed.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 12:00 PM at St John’s Lutheran Church, 884 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, 230 Oakland Avenue, Stamford.
