Edith Caporizzo, 98, a lifelong resident of Stamford and a winter resident of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away peacefully at her Stamford home with her loving family by her side on March 8, 2018. Born on June 22, 1919 in Stamford to the late Joseph and Lucy DeNicola Vallario.
Edith was a graduate of Stamford High School “Class of 1937”. She had worked at Schicks of Stamford through the late 1930’s and early 1940’s then Yale & Towne of Stamford through the early 1940’s then to Electrolux of Old Greenwich through the late 1940’s finishing her career with High Ridge Electric from the early 1950’s through the early 1970’s where she was an office manager. Edith and her husband Fred traveled the world together, although she was best known for her “green thumb” and her unique flair as an interior decorator, as both were her passions. Her love for her family and friends was without compromise, as her door was always open.
Edith is survived by her loving son Fred Caporizzo, Jr. and his wife Marci of Westport, daughter June Lotz and her husband Greg of Stamford, grandchildren Mallory and Amanda Lotz, and her brother Frank Vallario of Stamford.
Besides her parents, Edith was predeceased by her husband Alfred J. Caporizzo, Sr., and her four siblings, Margaret Iovino, Antoinette Campana, Salvatore “Chuck” Vallario, and Rachel Vallario.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Constellation Hospice of Norwalk with a special thank you to Edith’s nurse Julie and her aide Jackie for the care they provided.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave. Stamford on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 9:45AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30AM at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 37 Schuyler Ave. Stamford. Entombment will follow at St. John’s R.C. Mausoleum, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 2:00PM to 6:00PM
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Edith’s memory to David Russo Cancer Foundation, 50 Spruce Street, Stratford, CT 06615
