Edward W. Binshadler, 95, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Edgehill. He was born in Granite City, Illinois on December 1, 1918.
Bin (as he was known to all) graduated from Westminster College in 1940 with a B.A. and earned his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1943.
He served as a decorated member of the U.S. Army in the European Campaign during WWII, participating in the D-Day landings as a platoon leader and First Lieutenant.
His career was always in Finance – 4 years as a Security Analyst with a Wall Street investment counsel; 7 years on the Finance Staff at Ford Motor Co in Detroit; and 23 years in the Consulting Group of Arthur Young & Co (now Ernst & Young), with his last 17 years as partner in the firm during which time he travelled worldwide for the firm. After mandatory retirement from Arthur Young he worked for 14 years as a trustee of a large family of Mutual Funds.
He is survived by his loving son Jeff, his granddaughter Sara, his grandson Stephen and wife Sarah, and a great granddaughter Juniper, all of VT.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his devoted wife Priscilla Barr Binshadler.
He lived in Riverside, CT for many years with his wife and son and enjoyed tennis and sailing at the Riverside Yacht Club where he served as a long-time member of its Race Committee.
A Memorial Service will be held at Edgehill, 122 Palmers Hill Road, Stamford, CT on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Interment will be private, and there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to Westminster College, 501 Westminster Avenue, Fulton, MO 65251. The family is most grateful to the Nicholas F.
