Edward Anthony Brown, 87, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2009 surrounded by his family. Born on January 21, 1922 in Queens, NY, he was the son of the late Herbert and Letitia Moran Brown.
Ed worked many years for General Data Comm Industries in Wilton, CT, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Belltown Fire Department. He loved golf and for his retirement years, he was a ranger at Sterling Farm Golf Course. Ed also enjoyed winters in Vero Beach, Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Muriel Thompsen Brown; his four sons: Edward and Jill; Peter and Margo; Stephen and Lisa; and James and Deborah; and his grandchildren: Erin, Tara, Adam, Peter Jr., Matt, Megan, Stephen, Lauren, and Maureen. Four great grandchildren, Maddie Lynn, Eddie, Sophie and Alison; and a sister, Letitia Brown Stack, also survive.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Friday (TODAY), October 23, from 4:00 �" 8:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 10:10 AM on Saturday, October 24 and proceed to St. Bridget of Ireland RC Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery on Oaklawn Avenue. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions are made to Stamford Firefighters Burn Foundation, 629 Main Street, Stamford, CT 06901.
