Edward Austin Joyce, 84 of Stamford passed away peacefully Sat. May 17, 2008, at Stamford Hospital.
Born in Stamford Oct. 6, 1924 he was the son of the late Austin and Rose Frank Joyce.
Mr. Joyce was a route salesman for over 30 years for Bouton Laundry which later became Happiness Laundry. Mr. Joyce was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. A Signal Man 1st Class, he was a participant in the Invasion of Normandy on D-Day.
Mr. Joyce was a founding member of St. Gabriel Parish and instrumental in the restoration of its rectory. He was also an active member and volunteer of the Newfield Swim Club from 1960 through 1972.
Survivors include his wife Lucy Carlo Joyce, a daughter Kathy Robustelli and her husband Rick, a son Tim Joyce and his wife Kathy all of Stamford. Seven grandchildren, Terrance, Kelly and Maggie Joyce and Marc and his wife Meg, Katie, Emily, and Greg Robustelli. A great-granddaughter Mia Robustelli, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Harry Lyons.
A Funeral Procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory 104 Myrtle Ave. Stamford on Wed. May 21, 2008 at 9:10 AM and proceed to the Church of St. Cecilia 1184 Newfield Ave. Stamford for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. John RC Cemetery Darien, CT.
Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Tues. May 20, 2008 from 4-8 PM.
