Edward Moon Jr

Edward Moon, Jr., a longtime resident of Stamford, CT, passed away at his home on the evening of Saturday, April 15, 2023, with his family at his side. He was born in New York, NY on January 5, 1947, and was the son of the late Rachel Lane and Edward Moon, Sr. Edward was 76 years old at the time of his passing.
Growing up in Manhattan, he resided with his paternal grandmother, the late Louisa Giordana Moon O’Gorman. At the age of 18, he began what would become a long and loving relationship with his sweetheart, Cindy, only being separated when called to serve in the U.S. Army. As a veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the 261st Transportation Company. Upon completion of his service, Edward started a career at Citibank where he worked for 32 years, retiring as a Senior Vice President. He enjoyed a post-retirement position as Dock Master at Stamford’s public marinas.
Edward was survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 56 years, Cindy Moon, nee Serao, daughters Jennifer Moon and Jessica Moon, grandsons Drew Kozlowski, Noah Kozlowski, Marco Cardoza, and Milo Sarmiento, and sons-in-law Michael Grippo and Josefino Sarmiento.
Ed was a friend to many. He enjoyed lively gatherings, tropical vacations, great food, and taking his boat out on the Long Island Sound. While he had many interests and hobbies, they were only worth doing if he could do them with his family, which he prioritized above all else. Furthermore, no description of Ed would be complete without acknowledging his quick wit, love for animals, and loyalty to the New York Jets.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on the afternoon of Saturday, April 22nd from 3:00PM to 5:00PM. A prayer service will take place during visitation. The inurnment will take place at a later date and will be held privately.
