Efstratios Athanasoulias

Efstratios Athanasoulias, 70, of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 21, 2017. He was born on January 16, 1947 in Platana, Sparta Greece to the late Yanni and Yiannoula Stratigakis Athanasoulias.
He had served in the Greek Army as a young man and emigrated to Stamford in 1970. He was employed at Pitney Bowes for many years before opening Village Pizza in Madison, CT in 1989 with his brother Theodoros.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Venetia Vlaholias Athanasoulias of Stamford, his loving children, John Athanasoulias and Angie Athanasoulias and her fiancé Tommy DeSalvo both of Stamford, his sister Maria Tzanetakis of Greece, sister’s in-law Libby and Pota Athanasoulias and Dina Lambrinakos and brother- in -law Petros Lambrinakos, all of Stamford, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Theodoros and Ilias Athanasoulias.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave. Stamford, CT on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 9:15 AM to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Ave Stamford, CT for a funeral service to be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Rd Stamford, CT. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, September 25, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM with a Trisagion service to be at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Efstratios’ name to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Ave Stamford, CT.
