Eileen Fitzpatrick

Eileen J. Fitzpatrick, died May 13th, 2012 peacefully in Stamford after a long illness. Born in Cloonkeen, County Galway, Ireland on May 12, 1927, to her parents Michael and Mary Craven Joyce. She was one of eight children. At sixteen she moved to Manchester, England for work and in 1950 immigrated to America. After living in New York City and Greenwich, CT she married and settled in Stamford. Eileen was a devoted wife and mother to her four children. She also worked outside the home for many families doing housekeeping and catering. She attended St. Cecelia Roman Catholic Church for daily mass until her illness did not allow. Her faith gave her strength and her family gave her joy.
Eileen was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Paul in 1992. Her oldest son,
Rev. Kevin Fitzpatrick also preceded her in 2009. She is survived by her daughter Siobhan Sawyer and husband Mark of St. Joseph, Michigan; her son Sean of Norwich; her son Paul and wife Darlene of Stamford; and granddaughters Caitlin, Maggie, Sarah and Emily; her sister Aggie Hill and brother James Joyce, both of Ireland; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be leaving The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue Stamford, CT on Friday May 18th, 2012 at 9:15 AM for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM at St. Cecelia RC Church, 1184 Newfield Avenue Stamford, CT. Interment will be private. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on May 17th, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
