Elaine Magda

Elaine T. Magda, 65, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 7, 2012 at Stamford Hospital. She was born in Stamford on November 18, 1947 to the late Frank J. and Mary Hamernik Magda, Sr.
Elaine was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy of Stamford, Class of 1965 and received her Bachelors Degree in Nursing from Villa Maria College in Erie, PA, Class of 1969. She then went on to practice nursing for forty years working at doctor’s offices and at various nursing homes in Fairfield County. For many years she was involved with the Acting Co. of Greenwich, CT that was founded by Lois Fern Hamilton and also had volunteered her time with the Nutcracker Ballet in Stamford. Elaine just recently received an Educational Certificate of completion in Recreational Therapy from Norwalk Community College.
Elaine is survived by her loving sister Frances Magda, her loving brother Frank J. Magda, Jr. and his wife Carol and her nephews Matthew and Brian Magda and niece Allyson Magda all of Stamford.
A Prayer Service will be celebrated on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 10:00- 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Elaine’s memory to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492-1822
