Eleanor Garufi

Eleanor DeCicco Garufi, 94, of Stamford, CT passed away peacefully on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Stamford Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Mamaroneck, NY on April 17, 1927 to the late Antonio and Josephine Guglielmo DeCicco.
She married Charles R Garufi on April 25, 1948 and they moved to Stamford, CT in the early 1950’s. She played an essential role in the development of two successful family businesses: Anthony’s Farm Produce and Elmar Manor, a multi-family dwelling, both located in the Glenbrook section of Stamford. Her true passion in life, however, was centered around her family. Upon the death of her husband, Charles Sr she embraced the position of family matriarch. She was very involved in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives.
Eleanor is survived by her loving children, Charles R. Garufi, Jr. and his wife Eileen, Paulette L. DeLeo and her husband Garry, Timothy J. Garufi and his wife Patricia and Kevin J. Garufi and his wife Susan. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Eleanor was also predeceased by her husband Charles R Garufi, Sr. and her great grandson James T. Tripolitsiotis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held privately at St. Bridget’s Church, Stamford. Interment will be private at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made in Eleanor’s to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105-3678 @ stjude.org.
