Elena Mourin Japon, 79, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at her home in Darien. Born April 17, 1930 in Havana, Cuba, she was the daughter of the late Gerardo Mourin and Elvira Lopez Loureiro.
She is survived by her husband of fifty four years, Julius Japon; a daughter, Maria and her husband Ronald Konitshek of Darien; a brother, Carlos Mourin of Miami, FL; a granddaughter, Heather and her husband Michael Orawsky, Jr. both of Danbury; a grandson, Gary Konitshek; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Saturday, August 1 from 9:00 �" 10:30 AM. A funeral procession will then proceed to St. Thomas More RC Church, 374 Middlesex Road, Darien, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will then follow at St. John Cemetery in Darien.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made to the Alzheimer Association, 279 New Britain Road, Suite 5, Kensington, CT 06037.
