Elenanor Hayes

ELEANOR PYREK HAYES, a life long resident of Stamford, died on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the Richard L. Rosenthal Residence of Stamford. Ellie was born on December 19, 1925 to the late John and Mary Pyrek.
She is survived by her husband, William A. Hayes, Sr. of Stamford; her son, William A. Hayes, Jr. of Merrimac, Mass.; Kathleen Hayes Bullock, her daughter; and her sister; Catherine Valente, both of Stamford. Ellies adoring grandchildren include John and Morgan Bullock of Stamford; and Emily Hayes Sheehan, Jesselyn and William Hayes of Merrimac.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by John and Donald Pyrek, her two brothers.
Ellie graduated Stamford Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1950 and she earned a BS from the State University of New York. She actively practiced nursing in a variety of settings and was School Nurse in the School Health Program, primarily at St. Cecelias Elementary School. As a devout Catholic, she was a Eucharistic Minister of St Maurice Church, a member of The Parish Nurse Program, the St. Jude League, and the Marguerite-Bourgeoys Congregation of Notre Dame.
A celebration of Ellies life will be held at a Memorial Mass on Saturday, May 31 at 9:00 AM at St. Maurice Church. There will be no calling hours and interment will be private per Mrs. Hayes request.
Arrangements are being handled by the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford.
