Elizabeth “Betty” Baker, 95, a long time resident of Stamford before moving to Torrington four years ago, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, June 6, 2015 surrounded in the comfort of her home. Elizabeth was born in Stamford on May 9, 1920 to the late Caesar and Lucille Tonazzi Nosenzo.
Elizabeth lived in Stamford most of her life. She attended school in Stamford and was the church organist for St. Maurice RC Church for over sixty years. She was a dedicated wife, and mother, who always put her family first and enjoyed spending time with her twin granddaughters.
Elizabeth is survived by her sons, Brian Baker and his wife Sheryl of Keizer, Oregon, Dennis Baker and his wife Cathy of Torrington, her sister Alice Kelly of Stamford and her two grandchildren, Jennifer Egwu and Melissa Passanante, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Elizabeth is predeceased by her husband William J. Baker in 2002 and her brother Julian “Duke” Nosenza
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Friday June 12, 2015 at 10:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM at St. Maurice RC Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday June 11, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Maurice RC Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford, CT 06906.
