Elizabeth Conner Wallace, “Beth”, 68, of Fairfield, CT passed away on January 5, 2026 after a valiant multi-year battle with lung cancer. Beth was born and raised in Stamford, CT to her late parents, Graham F. Wallace and Evelyn C. Wallace, and was also pre-deceased by an infant brother, Peter.
Beth was a kind, warm, smart, loving and fun woman with a wide network of friends stemming from her education at Stamford Catholic High School, the University of Dayton, Fairfield University School of Nursing, her initial job growth with Survey Sampling International, and the two hospitals where she dedicated the majority of her professional life.
After a brief time in the business sector, Beth decided that her true calling was to a nursing career. She resumed her formal education earning a BSN and began working at St. Rafael’s Hospital in New Haven. Soon, Beth pursued and achieved a Master in Nursing degree, followed by a Nurse Practitioner certification while working at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, CT. Beth’s interpersonal skills, love for those challenged by sickness and disease, and her true interest in medicine led her to gain nursing leadership responsibilities and make life-long friendships as a cardiac recovery floor leader at St. Vincent’s and later as an APRN for a St. Vincent’s satellite cardiac testing and recovery unit and heart failure clinic. She was a bright and compassionate nurse who was exceptionally dedicated to her patients.
Beth was an avid and knowledgeable sailor, often crewing for her Dad and Mom aboard “Cracker” on Long Island Sound, and she especially enjoyed multi-day racing against other similar sized sailboats. She loved sharing tales of daring racing starts and close finishes with her sailing friends and family, as well as their many good-natured competitors.
Beth was an incredibly knowledgeable and avid Red Sox fan. In her later years, she religiously followed Notre Dame football and developed an interest in Irish music. She also enjoyed many family and friends summer gatherings at the Stonington beach house she shared with her sister Blair and family.
Beth gave of herself in the special care she gave to her Mother when she battled the onset of dementia, as well as some years later inviting her Dad to live in her home when he no longer could live comfortably and safely alone. Beth literally put her life on hold to provide this care, which her siblings will always be indebted to her for accomplishing so gracefully.
Beth was particularly close with her siblings, her ten nieces and nephews, and 15 grand nieces and nephews, avidly following their education, activities, weddings, family additions, and careers with visits, calls and family updates. Beth relished being the fun “Auntie Beth”. She loved her two rescued cats, Cassie and Orien, and also enjoyed visiting her “canine nephews” at Blair’s home, frequently bringing treats and squeaky toys.
Beth is survived by loving siblings Robert (Janet) Wallace, Jack (Betty) Wallace, Graham (Lourie) Wallace Jr., and Blair (Kieran) Mahan. Her radiant smile and loving embrace will always be a treasured memory, and will be greatly missed by all of us.
A memorial service honoring Beth’s life and love will be held at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, CT on Saturday, January 17, 2026 beginning with family visitation at 11:30am, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 12:30pm. A private interment will be held on Monday, January 19.
