Elizabeth Laychak
June 16, 1930 — July 5, 2015
Elizabeth Veronica Laychak, 85, of Orlando, FL passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital on Sunday, July 5, 2015. Born in Norwalk on June 16, 1930, she was the only child to the late Louis and Barbara Flaherty Wellner.
Elizabeth was raised in Greenwich and graduated from Greenwich High School, Class of 1948. She lived many years in Greenwich and Stamford before moving to Florida.
She is survived by her six children, Gene Laychak and his wife Linda of North Kingstown, RI, Pamela Saccol and her husband David of Stamford, Lisa Jetmore and her husband James of Orlando, FL, Kathleen Laychak of Waltham, MA, Robert Laychak and his wife Joan of Hampton, VA and Allen Laychak of Denver, CO, as well as ten grandchildren, Sara Saccol, Alexis Knight, Jeffrey Laychak, Andrew Laychak, Matthew Saccol, Jessica Jetmore, Shelby Laychak, Hunter Laychak, Ciarnan Laychak and Bridger Laychak. Also surviving are two great grandchildren Trevor and Roslyn Knight.
Besides her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Eugene Laychak of fifty five years in 2004.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 9:20 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church, 1200 Shippan Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, North Street, Greenwich. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Elizabeth’s memory to the Basilica of the National Shrine, Mary Queen of the Universe, 8300 Vineland Avenue, Orlando, FL 32821
