Eric Costigan
December 15, 1936 — January 13, 2013
Eric Paul Costigan, 76, a former Stamford resident, passed away peacefully in Winston-Salem, NC on January 16, 2013 with his family by his side. Eric was born in Queens, NY on December 15, 1936 to the late Phillip Richard and Sonia Ecdahl Costigan. Eric worked at Capital Records of Stamford for twenty five years before moving to Wilmington, NC in 2000 then eventually to Winston-Salem in 2010. Eric enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid reader and history buff.
Eric is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Generosa “Jean” Costigan of Winston-Salem, NC, two step-daughters; Linda Vitti of Wilton, and Sandra Memoli, of Winston-Salem, NC, a brother Phillip Costigan and his wife Mary of Wagoner, OK, and four sisters; Nancy Poli and her husband George of Moor Park, CA, Marguerite Sanford and her husband Terry of San Luis Obispo, CA, Phyllis Costigan of Blanco, TX and Edwin Laakso of Holland, MI. As well as three grandchildren; John Vitti of Wilton, Chris Memoli of Norwalk, and Dawn Santapaula, of Gloucester, MA, along with ten great children and one great-great grandchild.
Besides his parents, Eric is predeceased by his brother Conrad Costigan, his sister Barbara Costigan and his step-granddaughter Jennifer Vitti.
Family and friends may call at The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue Stamford, CT on Wednesday January 23, 2013 from 11:00AM-12:00PM. A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 1101 Bedford Street, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John RC Cemetery, Darien.
