Esther H. Burns, 88, formerly of Stamford, CT, died April 10, 2013 in New Milford, CT. Born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Greenwich, CT, she married the love of her life, and moved to Stamford. She worked at Dorr Oliver as a cashier for 20 years before her retirement. Her passions in life were first and foremost her family and friends, in which, she enjoyed going to bingo and the casino.
Esther is survived by her children: Diane Evans and spouse, John; Kathleen Hunt and spouse Clifton (Tippy); Esther Librandi and spouse Michael; Janet Quinn and spouse Brian; Frances Sirico and spouse Jim and John F. Burns, Jr., and spouse Susan. She has fourteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is survived by siblings Kathleen Murphy, Philip Murphy and Josephine Savona.
Esther is predeceased by her husband John F. Burns, her parents Margaret Carey Murphy and Philip Murphy, her siblings Mary Murphy, Peggy McGlynn, Danny Murphy, Dennis Murphy and Patricia Smith.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Bridget of Ireland Roman Catholic Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue Stamford, CT on Saturday April 13, 2013 at 10:00AM. Burial will follow immediately at St. John RC Cemetery, Darien. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT is honored to assist the Burns family with the arrangements.
