Esther Sciarretta

Esther Pizzella Sciarretta, 83, a resident of Stamford and Hollywood, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Stamford Hospital. She was born on March 24, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Domenico and Antoinetta Pizzella.
Esther‘s family moved back to Carano, Italy when she was five years of age. There she met her husband Severino ”Sal” Sciarrretta and together they moved back to the United States settling in Stamford when she was seventeen years of age. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother , and was a caring woman loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving sons, Dominick Sciarrretta of Norwalk, Silvio Sciarretta and his wife Phyllis of Stamford, Vincent Sciarretta and his wife Denise of Wilton, her loving grandchildren, Jason and his wife Mary K., Dominick and Christopher Sciarretta, Amy and Amanda Sciarretta and Lauren and Lilly Sciarretta. She is also survived by her sister Mafalda Gaudiano of Stamford.
Besides her parents, Esther was predeceased by her husband of 52 years Severino “Sal” Sciarretta ,her son Jimmy Sciarretta , a sister Angelina Raimondo and two brothers Domenico and Frank Pizzella.
A funeral procession will be leaving The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 9:10 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at the Church of St. Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Entombment will follow at St. John’s Mausoleum, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
