Florence Boasso
May 17, 1915 — February 18, 2016
Florence M. “Fudge” Boasso, 100, of Stamford, formerly of Old Greenwich, passed away peacefully on Thursday February 18, 2016. Florence was born in Stamford on May 17, 1915, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rosa Sterpone Boasso.
Florence was a longtime resident of Old Greenwich before moving to Stamford. She attended the Sound Beach School and Greenwich High School. Florence worked for Electrolux in Old Greenwich for forty seven years before her retirement. Florence was also an avid duck pin bowler, competing in National Tournaments, before switching to big pins after the duck pin bowling lanes closed. She was also an athlete; playing softball and basketball for the Electrolux Corporation teams and was an avid UConn Women’s Basketball and New York Yankees fan. Florence was also a longtime parishioner of St. Clement Church in Stamford.
Florence is survived by her two nieces; Beverly Boasso Vassallo and Robin Boasso Ambrosio, seven great nieces and nephews and seven great-great nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Florence is predeceased by her two brothers; Alexander and Louis Boasso, her three sisters; Sabina Lang, Lena Boasso and Christina MacDonald, as well as a niece, Faith Boasso.
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Monday February 22, 2016 at 10:30AM and proceed to St. Clement of Rome RC Church, 535 Fairfield Avenue, Stamford, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home prior to mass from 9:30 to 10:30AM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Clement of Rome RC Church, 535 Fairfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 in Florence’s name.
