Frances Clare Elles
June 18, 1927 — January 12, 2009
Frances Clare Elles, 81, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 12, 2009. Born in New York, New York on June 18, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Jane Clarke Tuite.
Frances grew up in Old Greenwich and was friends with the Todd Family and enjoyed the beach at Todds Point. She then moved to Stamford where she graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and worked for Yale & Towne. She married Elmer G. Elles, in 1949 and raised their family in the Springdale section of Stamford for 55 years. Frances was also employed for many years at Stamford Hospital as an Administrator. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. They were a focal point of her life.
Frances is survived by four sons, Daniel G. Elles of Colorado, Richard D. Elles of Florida, William R. and Coral Elles of Vermont, and Thomas A. and Kathleen Elles of Fairfield; a sister, Anna Whalen of Connecticut; a brother, William Tuite of Florida; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Elmer G. Elles in 2004; two brothers, Robert and John Tuite; and two sisters, Jean DuBois and Mary Hyland.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, on Thursday, January 15, 2009, from 4-8 PM.
A Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 16, 2009, at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Marys Cemetery, Greenwich. www.cognetta.com
