Frances Bertana Kane (95) died Dec. 19th, peacefully, at her home.
Frances, the daughter of the late Louis and Virginia Bertana, was born on June 8, 1918, and resided in Glenbrook her entire life. In 1939 She married Henry J. Kane. They were married for 37 years. They moved into a house built by her father where she remained until her death.
Fran was always up for anything new and challenging from flying (for the first time) to Alaska when she was 50, to motor scootering around Block Island when she was in her 80s. She always had a smile on her face, and she made a delicious chicken Marsala!
She is survived by Virginia (Ginger) Parker, Utica, NY; Bette Ann Mann, Darien, CT; Frances Richmond, San Jose, CA; Thomas Kane, Stamford, CT. She also is survived by grandchildren, Jennifer Parker Starbuck, Jed Parker, Jeff Parker , Molly Parker-Myers, Christopher Mann, Tim Mann, Jessica Nugen, Sarah Pearson, Kaitlin Esaw, Ben Esaw, Jacob Richmond, Zachary Kane and Michael Kane. She had seven great grand children, Zeena, Evan, Maggie, Hazel, Flora, Evelyn, and Anna Beth.
Fran was a moderator for the Stamford voting and election board for many years. She was an active participant at Saint Maurice’s RC church in Glenbrook.
A memorial service celebrating Fran’s life will be held at St. Maurice church at 329 Glenbrook Road in Stamford on Saturday , Jan. 18th at 11 AM.
