Frank “Snooky” DelVecchio, 94, passed away on March 11, 2013 at Stamford Hospital after a brief illness with his family by his side. Frank was born August 12, 1918 in Stamford to the late Ralph and Madeline Compolattaro DelVecchio.
Frank was a World War II Veteran having served in the Army Air Corps. He was a salesman for Hartley & Parker Distributors until owning The Banksville Liquor Store in Greenwich, CT where he was affectionately known as “Uncle Frank”. Snooky was socially active, beginning every morning by having breakfast with “The Boys”. He was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Frank is survived by three children; Ralph DelVecchio and his wife Phyllis, of Stamford, Lynda Nadin and her husband Glenn , of Stamford and Margaret Capalbo and her husband Rick of Greenwich; grandchildren; Ralph DelVecchio Jr. and his wife Janice, Joseph DelVecchio, Francesca Capalbo and Ashley Capalbo, all of Greenwich; a brother; Louis DelVecchio of Norwalk and a sister Louise Sierpina of Stamford as well as 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife Frances Parrella DelVecchio in 1987 and his brother Salvatore DelVecchio.
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave, Stamford, on Saturday March 16, 2013 at 10:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Church of the Holy Spirit, 403 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford, at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday March 15, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made in Frank’s name to St. John Fisher Seminary, 894 Newfield Ave, Stamford, CT 06905.
