Frank Peter Loglisci, of Stamford, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, on April 17, 2008. Born May 10, 1918, he was the son of the late Raffaele and Antonia DeGenaro Loglisci of Stamford.
Frank began his career with the Stamford Police Department in 1946 having been appointed a Supernumerary by Mayor Charles E. Moore and then in 1947 being appointed a patrolman until his retirement in January 1, 1992. Frank held Badge #1 of the Stamford Police Department for over seventeen years, the longest period of time of any police officer.
Frank was affectionately known as the �"Mayor of Bedford Street for all the years that he patrolled Bedford Street and forever there after. Frank said that he had been fortunate enough to serve in a position where he had come in contact with so many people and had been able to help a few. My memories are many and most happy ones, I will cherish these memories and say goodbye with a smile and a tear.
Frank was a charter member of the Police Anchor Club #25, a member of the Connecticut State Police Association, an honorary life long member of the St. Augustine Council of the Knights of Columbus and member and past president of the Gravinese Mutual Aid Society and a parishioner of Sacred Heart RC Church in Stamford.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Grace Sacco Loglisci, of 65 years; his son, Ralph F. Loglisci and his wife Donna; his daughter, Antonia and her husband Wallace McGhee of Byron, Illinois; and his daughter, Marie DeFreitas of Norwalk; and godson, Victor E. (Eddie) Salas and his wife Evelyn of Bridgeport. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his daughter, Patricia Trombetto; brothers, Joseph and Louis Loglisci; sisters, Angelina Cognetta, Mary Ladestro, Philomena (Mamie) Grande, Lena Fumega and Rose Turcio.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Sunday, April 20 from 3:00 7:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Monday, April 21 and proceed to Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. Johns RC Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue, Darien.
