Frank Longo

Frank W. Longo, formerly of Stamford passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Bridgeport Hospital. He was born in Stamford on May 28, 1940 to the late Gerald and Ann (Panapada) Longo.
Frank was a graduate of Stamford High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Upon his return from the military, Frank established his career in the City of Stamford as a Police Officer and then transitioned to the Detective Bureau, where he worked in all divisions. During his tenure in law enforcement, Frank was recognized for exemplary work and dedicated service to the Stamford community.
Frank had an appreciation for special interests and tried to influence others to share them. A car enthusiast who was fascinated by the evolution of the industry and took to the road each day as if it were his first day of driving. He had a passion for fine dining and hosting others to special dinners at his favorite, personally selected restaurants throughout Fairfield and Westchester counties.
He is survived by his wife, Aida Calandrelli-Longo of Bridgeport, his sons, Gerald F. Longo and his spouse Douglas B. Mayhew of Norwalk and Paul C. Longo and his wife Sharon Longo of Darien, a sister Geraldine Flemming and her husband Bill Flemming of Stamford, as well as his grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Sarah Longo of Darien and his former wife, Barbara A. (Cologero) Fidelibus.

Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Saturday morning, January 27, 2018 from 8:00-10:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM at The Basilica of St. John the Evangelist RC Church, 279 Atlantic Street, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien.
