Frank P. Policastro Jr., 92, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and formerly of Stamford, CT, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Imperial Point Hospital, Ft. Lauderdale, FL He was born in Greenwich, CT on March 23, 1924 to the late Frank and Mary St. Charles Policastro.
He was the co-owner of Frank Policastro and Sons Hardware Store, formerly of Stamford, CT. He was also president of both Policastro Realty, Inc.and Policastro Feed Company for over 26 years, as well as a member of the Elks Club, the Knights of Columbus of Stamford and also served as vice president of the National Hay Association.He was happiest when spending time with his family and friends, traveling, and playing cards.
Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Marie Colombo Policastro and his daughter Carolyn Policastro, a brother Joseph Policastro,Sr. and three sisters, Mafalda and Yolanda Policastro and Angelina Simpson.
He is survived by his loving children, Marianne Correa and her husband Robert of Newtown, CT and Frank Policastro, III and his wife Carol of Stamford, CT, as well as six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 9:40 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford. Entombment will follow in the family’s private mausoleum at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Greenwich. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
