Gail Patricia Iannotta, 58, of Stamford, passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a courageous battle with brain cancer on Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Born in Stamford, on October 8, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Patsy J. Catino and Rapheala Iovanna Catino.
Gail worked for Clairol, Inc. for six years, Our Lady Star of the Sea RC School as a secretary and was a bookkeeper for a C.P.A. firm in Greenwich. These jobs fit her, for she was the consummate organizer, as she also was the administrator for her husband’s business, Ridgewood Barber Shop. She was a talented seamstress, a diehard Yankee fan and also enjoyed cooking. She was a true “handywoman” having done carpentry, interior design and all aspects of home improvement herself. Most importantly, she was all about her family and was a devoted and loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother.
Gail is survived by her husband, Benny Iannotta; her daughter, GinaRae Cafaro and her husband Craig and their sons Michael and Daniel; her son, Joseph Iannotta and his wife Jessica; two sisters-in-law, Ida Aurello and Hilda Iannotta. Also surviving are many loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Gail was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Ann Catino and her brother, Michael Catino.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 10:00AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church, 1200 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien, CT. Calling hours will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Gail’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Building, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Patient Advocate Foundation Co-Pay Relief, www.copays.org.
