On Sunday, September 2, 2007, after a brief illness, Gail (Peggy) Pearce-Lacko entered into eternal rest at her home in Orange, CT. Born to the late James and Ida (Thomas) Lanzaro of Stamford on January 16, 1932, Mrs. Lacko lived in Stamford her entire life before moving to Orange, CT with her loving husband, John Lacko in 1997.
She attended Stamford Public Schools and graduated Stamford High School in 1949. She was a bookkeeper and was employed at St. Joseph Hospital for seventeen years. She left St. Josephs to start her family. Mrs. Lacko returned to work after her family was grown. She was employed by Davidoff Realty and then by Ronaco Industries until her retirement.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by a daughter, Gail Pearce of Stamford; a sister, June Few of Camarillo, CA; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lester and Genevieve Lacko of Heritage Village, CT; as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law on both the Sapelli side of the family and the Pearce side of the family. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mrs. Lacko was also blessed to have very special friends in her life, Cliff and Millie Studley of Stamford, who knew her from the tender age of nine years old. Other special friends include everyone at Silverbrook II Condominiums in Orange, CT and numerous friends in Stamford and throughout Connecticut.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two husbands, Arthur Sapelli in 1956 and Thomas Pearce in 1986.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 from 12:30 1:00 PM. A service will then begin at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Monsignor Peter Dora officiating. Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery in Darien.
