Gary A. DeSalvo, 60, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, June 10, 2015. He was born in Stamford on April 6, 1955 to the late Andrew and Anne Ingrao DeSalvo.
Gary was a very caring and loving husband, father and friend with a big heart and was always there for his family and friends. He was an avid bowler, having been inducted into the Lower Fairfield County Hall of Fame after bowling several perfect games. He also enjoyed fishing, playing softball and was an avid fan of the Yankees, Giants and UConn Huskies. He worked as a mechanic in the HVAC industry.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years Rose Zannino DeSalvo, his loving sons Tommy and Michael DeSalvo, all of Stamford, his brothers Joseph DeSalvo of SC, Andrew DeSalvo of FL, a sister Rosalie Brancaccio DeSalvo of FL, his brothers-in-law, Joseph Zannino (Janice) of Huntington, Jim Zannino (Jerri) of Milford, a sister-in-law Joann Langer of Norwalk, as well as his mother-in-law Beatrice Zannino of Stamford and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Gary was predeceased by his father-in-law Tony L. Zannino.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 9:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at The Basilica of St. John the Evangelist RC Church, Atlantic Street, Stamford. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 3:00-7:00 PM.
