Gary W. Saunders

Gary Wayne Saunders, lifelong resident of Stamford, and beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by family on Monday, August 25, 2025. Gary was born in Stamford on July 1, 1953 to the late Oscar Saunders and Jean Lowe. Gary was 72 years old at the time of his passing.

Gary was a solid individual. He was an amazing father, husband and grandfather, and just an overall great person. He grew up in Stamford, graduating from Stamford High School and then Norwalk Tech.  He went on to work for Pitney Bowes for 45 years, managing the factory and the HR department. His work meant a lot to him and to all of his employees at Pitney Bowes; they weren't just coworkers, they were his true friends and his work family. When he wasn’t at work, he enjoyed watching NASCAR (he loved Fords), rooting for the Green Bay Packers and the NY Mets, and all things to do with animals. More than anything Gary loved nothing more than spending time with Diane and his family.

Gary is survived by his wife, Diane Saunders (Squillace), and daughters, Jennifer Saunders and Melanie Pol and husband Carlos Pol. He also leaves behind his two grandchildren, Carmelo and Malia Pol, and two grand-dogs, Raine and Fluffy.

Keeping with Gary’s wishes, the initial funeral services were held privately. A memorial service for Gary will be announced at a later date.
