Genevieve Teresa LaRusso (Jaworski), 89, died peacefully at home as was her wish, surrounded by her loving family on August 14, 2010. Born on February 9, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY, she was one of ten children of the late Stanislaw and Sophie Sagen Jaworski.

Although to most Genevieve lived an ordinary life, those who knew her well would say her life was anything but. She grew up poor and lived through the Great Depression. As a new bride, she saw her husband off to war. She later saw her only son go off to war. Her strength, faith, positive outlook and remarkable sense of humor guided her through difficult times, and became hallmarks of her character.

Proud of her Polish heritage, she was a humble woman with a quiet grace who devoted her life to her family. She was known for her extraordinary kindness, not only to her family, but to those in need.

Genevieve was a teacher’s aide for the Stamford public school system for 16 years and a former employee of Omega Engineering for 10 years. She was also a former member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society.

Never one to sit idle, Genevieve was an avid Reader with an encyclopedic mind. She was also a skilled artisan. She crocheted countless afghans with the same meticulous care with which she approached all things in life, afghans she bestowed on those so lucky to receive them, with her wish to “wrap her family with her love”. She was a big fan of the Darien High School Blue Wave Volleyball team that her daughter coaches and served as the team’s spiritual coach.

Genevieve was the beloved mother of Anita Bocchino and her husband, John, Laurie LaRusso and Anthony LaRusso and his wife Theresa. She was the loving grandmother of John Bocchino and his wife Rosa, Danielle Bocchino and her husband Dr. Sean Lucan, Gregory Bocchino and his wife Caryn, Andrea Bocchino, Anthony Bocchino, and Mark Bocchino. She was also the adoring great grandmother of four great grandchildren. Genevieve is also survived by her sister, Angie Samela; sisters in law, Theresa and Matilda Jaworski.

In addition to her parents, Genevieve was predeceased by her loving husband, Anthony “Tony” LaRusso; and her eight siblings, Frank Jaworski, Anne Freeman, Joseph and Bernard Jaworski, Mary Bedosky, Michael, Anthony and Stanley Jaworski.
