George G. Caputo, 92, of Punta Gorda, FL formerly of Greenwich, died on Thursday, November 23, 2006. Born on November 27, 1914 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Antoinette Caputo.
George attended the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon. During his career he was an Executive with Swift and Company and olater founded the Fairfield Monument Company of Darien, which remains in the family. During his retirement, George enjoyed painting water colors and travel. George was proud of his military service to his country, having served in WWII in England and France.
He is survived by two children, Patricia Tear of Newburg, NY; and William Leonard Caputo of Port Charlotte, FL; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Jonathan Iorio; two brothers, James J. Caputo formerly of New Canaan now of Darien; and Gene Caputo of Hollywood, FL; two sisters, Margaret Caputo of Miami; and Ann Toots Richichi of Detroit, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Veronica McCoy Caputo; and his second wife, Louise Ryan Caputo.
