George Leon Chagaris, 62, passed away peacefully at his home on June 3, 2026, in Stamford, CT. George was the beloved son of Helen and Gus Chagaris; and the cherished brother of Connie (Dimitri) Begetis and Jeanette Chagaris.

He will be remembered by his family and friends for the impact he made on their lives and the memories they shared together.

George graduated from St. Basils Academy before going to Southern CT State University. George worked for many years as a salesman with Macy’s, where his friendly personality, dedication, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on customers, colleagues and everyone he met.

A passionate sports fan, George was a devoted New York Yankees and Knicks fan and an enthusiastic follower of sports of all kinds. He especially enjoyed sharing his love of the game with family and friends.

George was also known for his love of karaoke, where his friends affectionately crowned him the “Father of Karaoke”. Whether singing a favorite song or cheering on his teams, he brought enthusiasm, laughter, and warmth wherever he went.

More than anything, George will be remembered as a gentle, innocent soul, whose kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to have known him. His caring heart, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family will remain treasured memories for those he leaves behind.

In addition to his mother, his two sisters and brother-in-law, he is survived by his nieces, Katerina Begetis and Eleni (Nate) Begetis Mohr; his nephew, Stavros Begetis; and his great-nieces, Avery, Miah, Penelope and Ophelia; and many cousins and friends.

George was predeceased by his father Gus and his baby sister Maria.

Above all else, he was devoted to his wife, Christine, the love of his life with whom he shared 25 wonderful years of marriage. Their bond was built on love, friendship, and unwavering commitment. Christine passed away four years ago, far too soon, and he carried her memory in his heart every day. Their love remained a guiding presence in his life, and many find comfort in knowing they are reunited once again.
