George T. Deenihan Jr., 69, of West Springfield, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28, 2008. Born on May 19, 1939 in Stamford, he was the son of the late George T. and Marie Keating Deenihan Sr..
George was a Stamford native for 54 years before moving to West Springfield in 1993. He was a retired member of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local # 311/777. He played with the Atlantic Football League with the Stamford Golden Bears, and the Indoor Football League. He was also a recipient of the YMCA Red Triangle Award for volunteer work in Springfield, MA, among other community services.
George is survived by two sons, Thomas G. Deenihan of Stamford and Christopher M. Deenihan of Norwalk; a daughter, Angel M. Juliano of Hopewell, NY; two brothers, Richard Deenihan of Suffield, CT and James Deenihan of Stamford; a sister, Maureen Bova of Stamford; a godson, Anthony Walski of West Springfield, MA; four grandchildren, Samantha, Amanda, and Brianna Deenihan, and Ella Juliano; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Kathleen Ross.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Clements Church, 535 Fairfield Avenue, on Friday, September 5 at 10:00 AM.
