George Labbancz, Jr.

George E. Labbancz, Jr., 64, of Bridgeport, formerly of Stamford passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 1, 2014. He was born in Stamford on February 18, 1950 to the late George E. and Helen Tymula Labbancz, Sr.
George was a Physical Education Teacher with the Bridgeport School System. He also spent many years as a Basketball Coach throughout Fairfield County. He was an avid golfer and a lifelong New York sports fan.
George is survived by his loving brothers, Robert F. Labbancz and his wife Eugenia of New Canaan and Thomas S. Labbancz of Milford, a nephew, Dennis Labbancz and his wife Casey of New York, two aunts Carolyn Tymula of MA and Jane Rayburn and her husband Bill of TX. Also surviving are several cousins.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother Frank Labbancz.
Family and friends may call at The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew’s RC Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk. Inurnment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
