Gilbert Aquino, 57, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, New York City surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 1, 1954 in Camden, NJ to Gina Mercado Aquino and the late Luis Aquino.
Gilbert was employed with the CT Transport as a Bus Driver. He had a passion for fishing, gardening and he also crafted jewelry.
Gilbert is survived by his loving wife, Diane Mary Romaniello Aquino of Stamford, his mother Gina Mercado Aquino of Tampa, FL,two loving sons Nicholas James Aquino, Justin Daniel Aquino both of Stamford and a sister Jeannie Williams of Atlanta, GA. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins survive.
A funeral procession will be leaving The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, Ct 06902 on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 9:40 AM for a Mass of Christian to be celebrated at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, May 25, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Gilbert’s memory to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 811 West Evergreen Avenue, Chicago, ILL 60642-2642
