Giovanna Pollicella

Giovanna Pollicella, 96, of Stamford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 12, 2014 with her loving family by her side. Giovanna was born January 15, 1918 in Italy to the late Antonio and Caterina DePreta Sillo.
Giovanna is survived by her daughter Marie Massarella and her husband Anthony of New Canaan, her son Jospeh Pollicella and his wife Anna of Stamford, and one sister Antonietta Capocci of Michigan, as well as her five grandchildren, Donna Pirrone, Joanne Rosa, Laurie Wilson, Anthony Pollicella and Joanne Pollicella, and ten great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Giovanna is predeceased by her loving husband Antonio Pollicella, one brother and five sisters.
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT at 9:20 AM on Saturday February 15, 2014 and proceed to St. Cecilia RC Church, 1186 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday February 14, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00PM.
