Giovanna Stella

Giovanna Masone Stella, 97, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at St. Camillus Health Care Center. She was born on May 26, 1917 in Minturno, Italy to the late Tommaso and Marianna Del’Uva Masone.
Giovanna was an employee of Clairol for many years before her retirement in 1980. She was also an active parishioner at St. Mary’s RC Church and a member of the Minturnese Social Club Women’s Auxillary. Giovanna liked to garden and crochet, but her true passion was the love she had for her grandchildren, great grandchildren and to all children. She was loved by her family and friends and will be truly missed.
She is survived by her daughter in law Anna Stella of Stamford, three grandchildren, Umberto Stella and his wife Mary Ellen, Joanna Genovese and her husband Charles and Marc Stella. Also surviving are eight great grandchildren, Travis, Dante, Christian, Brandon and Olivia Stella and Lucas, Dylan and Brooke Genovese.
Besides her parents, Giovanna was predeceased by her husband Umberto Stella and her son Bernardo P. Stella.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 10:40 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s RC Church , 566 Elm Street, Stamford. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday morning on April 9, 2015 from 9:30-10:30 AM.
