Giuseppe Stramandinoli, 79, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at his home in Stamford. Born March 2, 1929 in Arena, Calabria, Italy, he was the eldest son of five children, to the late Michele and Maria Larobina Stramandinoli. At 16, he immigrated to Buenos Aires, Argentina where he lived for 11 years; after which he moved back to his hometown of Arena, where he married Maria Antonia Lavorato. In 1967, he immigrated again, this time to the United States, with his wife and two children. Since 1967, he was a resident of Stamford and has since had three more children. Giuseppe was a self-employed mason.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Lavorato Stramandinoli of Stamford; five sons, Michele Stramandinoli of Stamford; Salvatore Stramandinoli and his wife Ellen of Stamford; Carlo Stramandinoli of Redding; Aldo Stramandinoli and his wife Laura of Eastchester, NY; and Joseph Stramandinoli of Stamford; two brothers, Francesco Stramandinoli of Argentina; and and Nino Stramandinoli of Merano, Italy; and a sister, Teresa Brogna of Arena, Italy. Six grandchildren, Michael, Nicole, Bianca, Angelica, Maria, and Joseph Stramandinoli also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Antonio.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Wednesday, October 22 from 4:00 8:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 8:45 AM on Thursday, October 23, and proceed to Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM.
