Gloria Flores
September 8, 1933 — October 24, 2015
Gloria Esther Flores, 82, of Stamford passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at Stamford Hospital. She was born in Puerto Rico on September 8, 1933 to the late Ramon and Providencia Quinones Flores.
Gloria was a graduate of Morris High School in the Bronx, NY. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant at Union Carbide for many years before her retirement. She was a member of St. Leo’s Senior Group, Church of St. Cecilia’s Bible Study group and the Sunshine Girls of St. Bridget of Ireland Church and as well as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a permanent adorer of St. John Fisher Seminary and volunteered countless hours with the Sisters of Life. She was an extremely generous and caring person throughout her life. Gloria will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Gloria is survived by her loving sisters, Carmen Lydia Flores of Stamford, Gladys Pena and her husband Luis of Oklahoma, Aida Roche of Stamford as well as her three nephews, Carlos and Francisco Pena of Oklahoma and John C. Roche of Stamford.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Leonard Cocchia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Bridget of Ireland RC Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford. Interment will be private and there will be no calling hours. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to assist the Flores family with the arrangements.
