Graciela Rengifo, 91, passed away on January 30, 2021 at Stamford Hospital. She was born on December 29, 1929 in Montenegro, Colombia.
She was a registered nurse with a major in Obstetrics from the School of Nursing at the Hospital/Clinic “Maranata” in Palmira, Colombia, becoming a student/founder.
She is survived by her only son, William Toquica, granddaughter, Michelle Toquica of Miami, FL, grandson, Miguel H. Toquica and three great grandchildren, Isabella, Samuel, and Marcelo Toquica of Mexico.
When she moved to Bogota, she also worked/studied and graduated as a Public Accountant. Since her childhood, she developed a love for music, motivated by her two musician brothers. She learned to play several musical instruments becoming a gifted musician, composer and teacher, working with children, youth and senior citizens students.
She was the founder and first director of the “Tuna Mixta” of the Catholic University in Bogota, Colombia in 1971. She was also sent as musical Ambassador from Colombia to Spain, Italy, Panama, Jamaica and USA.
She moved to the USA in 1991. During her residence in Stamford, during the year of 1994, she became a loyal and active member of the Spanish Church IEDJ in Stamford and served as musical director, preaching and teaching with all her God’s given talents touching many lives.
She is loved and will be greatly missed by her large family and many friends.
