Harry Joseph Deragon, 85, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at the Richard Rosenthal Hospice Residence. Born August 23, 1922 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Eugene and Adeline Williams Deragon.

Harry was a veteran of the US Marine Corps having served in WWII, having fought in Guadal Canal. He was the Senior Manufacturing Engineer for Pitney Bowes for thirty-two years, until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Senior Men’s Association of Stamford, St. Gabriel’s RC Church Men’s Group and Senior Circle, AARP. He was also a literacy volunteer and helped in the beautification of the Parks in Stamford and was an avid golfer and NY Giants fan.

Harry is survived by his wife, Marie Accurso Deragon; a daughter Kathy Belmont and her long time companion, George Talboys, of Stamford; and her children, Steven, Michael, and Lauren; a daughter, Mary Waterbury and her husband Ralph of Oxford, CT; and their children, Kristen, Bryan and Jennifer; a son, Vincent Deragon of Yonkers, NY; and a sister, Adele Deragon of Poughkeepsie, NY. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Eugene Deragon and a sister, Marie DelSanto.

Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Saturday, June 21 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Monday, June 23 and proceed to St. Gabriel RC Church, 914 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Darien.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions are made in his name to Visiting Nurse Hospice Care, 1029 East Main Street, Stamford, CT 06902 or American Red Cross, 112 Prospect Street, Stamford, CT 06905.
