Harry Vincent Fratturo, 88, a former resident of Stamford passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at his home in Greenacres, FL. He was born in Stamford on August 10, 1926 to the late Antonio and Rose Metallo Fratturo.
Harry served his nation proudly during WW II, lying about his age in order to enlist in the US Navy. He was involved in the clean-up and reconstruction of the Phillipines, while attaining the rank of Motor Mechanic, Mate 3rd Class. After the war, his love of cars led him to work in the automotive trade service and had a number of gas stations in Stamford, ending with Schneider’s Auto Radiator Service. He left behind many grateful and loyal customers.
His family always came first and worked endlessly to support them. He took a great interest in Judo and with his youngest son, Paul, coached and traveled with the Stamford team for a few years. His later years were spent in good health, golfing and caring for his wife Mary during a series of illnesses. His only complaint was that he wasn’t able to do more for her.
Harry is survived by his loving wife Mary Cheries Fratturo of FL, his three sons Harry Fratturo of Stamford, Frank Fratturo and his wife Karen of Norwalk, Paul Fratturo and his wife Lori of Indiana and three sisters Annette Possidento of Stamford, Joanne Massari of Wilton and Betty O’Conner of Stamford, as well as five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Besides his parents, Harry was predeceased by his son Anthony Fratturo, a grandson Christopher Fratturo, a brother Louie Fratturo, a daughter in law JoAnne Fratturo and a sister Cotilda “Tillie” Solito.
