Helen J. Interlandi (Nicolini), passed away Sunday morning, November 4, at the age of 88.
Besides her parents, Michael and Caterina Catanzaro-Nicolini, she was predeceased by her loving husband Michael and her son-in-law Ralph.
She is survived by her devoted daughter Clara (Interlandi) Grande, and her grandchildren Melissa LoParco, her husband Anthony and their children Gianna and Isabella, Guy-Michael, Nicole Schmalzl and her husband Thomas, and Joel. She is also survived by her brother Milio Nicolini and his sons Michael, Victor and Daniel, as well as sisters and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to acknowledge Rose and all of Helen’s caregivers who brought her comfort daily as well as the staff at Stamford Hospital for their compassionate care.
More than anything, Helen loved spending time with her family: a caregiver to her parents, a loving wife, a nurturing mother, an adoring grandmother, a generous host and a loyal friend. She was most comfortable in the kitchen cooking for Sunday dinner as well as for company, and baking endless cookies and traditional holiday sweets.
Helen was a lifelong Stamford resident and a dedicated parishioner first at St. Mary’s and more recently at St. Gabriel’s, where she chaired the senior group. Helen was devoted to giving to others and, to that end, offered her time and talent to many worthy causes, particularly as a member and officer of the Catholic Daughters of America in their service to Rosary Hill Cancer Home.
