Helen Adeline Kilmurray passed away on December 10, 2015.She was born on April 24, 1917 in Buffalo Gap, South Dakota to the late Herman Kneuppel and Gertrude Macfarland.
She was a graduate of Long Beach California Junior College Nursing School in 1940. Helen worked for the American Red Cross blood bank in Long Beach through WWII. Helen was married to Joseph John Kilmurray on February 8, 1945. Joseph was the former Chief of Police inTeaneck, NJ. Helen was a registered nurse at Hackensack Hospital in N.J. and spent a significant part of her career as head nurse in the burn unit. This devotion was inspired by the loss of her younger sibling, Margaret, at age 7 in a fire. After retirement from work at the hospital, Helen spent many years in private duty nursing in Bergen County, N.J.
Helen was a resident of Teaneck, N.J. from 1949 to 1969 followed by Fairlawn, N.J., Long Beach Island, N.J., Manahawkin, N.J., Old Greenwich, CT and Stamford, CT at The Edgehill Senior Living Center.
Helen is survived by her son Daniel Joseph Kilmurray and daughter-in-law, Tamara Wing Kilmurray of Riverside, CT; along with five grandchildren: Erin Leigh, Lindsey Sara, Sean Daniel, Matthew Daniel and Ava Lynne.
Besides her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband Joseph and five siblings, Ida, Rudolph, Elmer, Julia and Margaret.
A Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Clement RC Church, 535 Fairfield Avenue, Stamford.
