Helen Margaret Duff Mailhot of Stamford died unexpectedly Friday, February 20, 2015 at Stamford Hospital at the age of 79.
Helen was born December 15, 1935 in Sarasota, Florida to the late William and Mary McCall Biggar. Helen was a graduate of Mother of God Academy of Stamford. Her loving husband of 52 years Charles Andrew Mailhot predeceased her.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Patricia A. Hamilton of West Haven, Holly D. Uva and William of Stamford, her son Robert C. Mailhot and his wife Bonnie J. of Darien as well as her two sisters Agnes Backman and her husband Roy of Jupiter, FL. and Mary Merchant and her husband Paul of Middletown, NY. Her four grandchildren Jessica L. Dalziel, Kathleen H. Uva, Ashley M. Mailhot and Danielle R. Mailhot as well as several nieces and nephews.
Helen worked many years at Stamford Hospital and also home care. She will always be remember for the excellent, professional care she provided to all who needed her care. She served as a deacon at the First Presbyterian Church in Stamford for many years. Perhaps her greatest accomplishment was being a cancer survivor for more than twenty-six years. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Thursday February 26, 2015 at 12:15PM and proceed to the First Presbyterian Church, 1101 Bedford Street, Stamford for a funeral service to be celebrated at 1:00PM. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday February 25, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00PM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to First Presbyterian Church.
The family would also like to thank Dr. Shah and Dr. Wong of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for their wonderful care over all the years.
