Helen Bodetka Malloy, 94, died peacefully at home on Saturday, February 20, 2010 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born in Stamford to the late Stanley and Josephine Bodetka, on November 29, 1915. She was a lifelong resident of Stamford.
Helen was a homemaker for most of her life, providing a loving and nurturing home for her family. For twenty years she was a devoted and caring second grade teacher at Holy Name School.
Helen was predeceased by her husband Joseph. She is survived by her children Dale Malloy, Rev. Joseph J. Malloy, Deacon Wayne and Poochie Malloy, Donald Malloy, and Rita Malloy, grandchildren Keith, Kara, Jason Malloy, Erin and John Masotta, Bruce and Emily Malloy, and great grandchildren Noah and Ivy Masotta. She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Louis Kolar and Dr. Alfred Stojowski, and sister-in-law Anne Bodetka as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family is extremely grateful to Dale, Wayne, Kara Malloy and Tasha Ely who provided exceptional 24 hour love and care, so that she could remain in the home that she loved.
There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to A Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 24th at 10:00a.m.at Holy Name of Jesus Church, Washington Boulevard and Pulaski Street, Stamford, Connecticut. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien, Connecticut. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Helen’s name to Holy Name of Jesus Church Restoration Fund, 4 Pulaski St., Stamford, CT 06902 Saint Clement Church Restoration Fund, 535 Fairfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 or a charity of one’s choice.
